Lord of the Rings Half Day Tour
Experience the magical world of Wellington’s ‘Middle Earth’ with a half day (~5 hour) tour of Central Wellington’s scene locations and take a behind the scenes guided tour of the creative, multi award winning world of the Weta Workshop.

Please note you will not see actual movie sets – we will be taking you to a number of scene locations so please wear your ‘imagination hat’!

- Drive the Red Carpet route for the World premiere of Return of the King.
- Drive by the Embassy Theatre – location for the world premiere of Return of the King and Australasian Premiere of Fellowship of the Ring and the Two Towers.
- Scenic drive from the City around Oriental Bay up to one of Wellington’s most popular look out points – Mt Victoria.
- 5 movie scene locations – Outskirts of the Shire, ‘Shortcut to…Mushrooms’, ‘Get off the Road’, Escape from the Nazgul-Race to the Buckleberry Ferry and Dunharrow.
- Visit the Roxy Theatre Miramar, co-owned by Weta Workshop co-founder Tania Rodger, Academy Award winning Editor Jamie Selkirk and his wife Ann and several other notable ‘Wellingtonians’. View Jamie Selkirk’s ‘Oscar’ for Editing on Return of the King (available to view Wednesday-Sundays only).
- Drive by Sir Peter Jackson’s studio – Stone Street Studios.
